Welcome to the Yeovil Literary Prize
Now in its fifth year, the Yeovil Literary Prize has attracted a very high standard of creative writing from writers across the globe. Now that we accept online entries the number of submissions is growing fast. Competition is keen but our entrants seem to respond to the challenge. The Novel category in particular has been very popular and demonstrates the wealth of talent and commitment to the craft of fiction that exists in all corners of the world. This category, named The Betty Bolingbroke-Kent Award after a wonderful woman who loved the art of writing, provides a great opportunity for aspiring writers to demonstrate their abilities. Not many writing competitions offer a category for Novelists, so this is a great opportunity and not to be missed.
The standard and number of entries for the Short Story and Poetry competitions also continue to impress and reveal a wealth of talent.
The judging teams commissioned by the Yeovil Literary Prize consist of professional, experienced and successful writers whose comments reflect the worth and potential of the leading entries.
The Yeovil Literary Prize was originally established to stimulate interest in all literary pursuits and to fundraise for the Yeovil Community Arts Association. It is now able to provide real support to creative arts groups in the South Somerset area. The Yeovil Community Arts Association is a Registered Charity (no. 299372).
