( Apply to both Online and Postal entries ) By entering the competition you agree to abide by the Rules.

• Entries must be in English.
• Entries must be the work of the entrant and must not have been previously published or have been accepted for publication.
• Entries that have won or are under consideration in other writing competitions are not eligible.
• Entries should not be a translation of another author's work.
• Entries may have appeared online but may not have been published in any commercial online form (e.g. in a journal or magazine, or as a publication requiring payment to access.)
• The Yeovil Literary Prize is open to anyone over the age of 18, including non-UK entrants.
• Copyright remains with the author, but permission maybe sought for publication of winning work in any future Anthology.
• The word count for the Short Story category is 2,000 words. All genres accepted.
• In the Poetry category each poem should have a maximum of 40 lines.
• Novel entries must have a synopsis, and either the first three chapters, or, the first (up to) 15,000 words, whichever is relevant. Do not exceed the combined synopsis and text word count of 15,000 words.
• Entries cannot be returned; please retain your own copy. No corrections will be accepted or refunds given.
• Entries not complying with competition rules will be disqualified.
• The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
• The closing date for entries is the 31 st May 2013.
• All correspondence must quote reference Number (eg. 13/ECO….C00…./Z…)
• The Results of the competition will only be published on the competition website.
• Winners will be notified by letter or email.

• Entries must be typed, single sided, and double-spaced. (Poetry single-spaced).
• Pages must be numbered.
• A word count must be given at the end of the Short Story.
• Novels must not be stapled.
• All manuscripts must be anonymous. All identification details only on the Entry Form.
• Only 1 entry is allowed per entry form, or up to 3 entries per entry form for the poetry competition.
• A completed entry form, together with the appropriate entry fee must accompany all entries.
• For acknowledgement of entry send an SAE marked 'Acknowledgement'.
• For results of the competition send an SAE marked ‘Results'.

• The text of your manuscript must not show your name.
• Where payment of the entry fee is by post, Online entries are held Provisionally until payment has been received.
• Only manuscripts which comply with the word count limits will be accepted.
